Congratulations to all of the players on wonderful seasons, and to those who won awards - you earned it! We will arrange a way to get all of the awards to the girls who missed the banquet (and team pictures for those of you who have not received them yet), so please keep checking back for an update.
Vince Turner and Matt Grosser spoke briefly about the Softball Parents Association that has been set up as a non-profit organization in conjunction with the softball team. The biggest goal is to raise money for field renovations, but it will also serve as a fundraiser for team needs. We HIGHLY encourage all parents to get involved. Please email Matt or Vince (matt.grosser@kroger.com or vinceturner@fuse.net) so they have your email address and can keep you informed with what's going on.
Finally, Jake and I announced that we are expecting our first baby in January of next year. While we'd love to coach the girls forever, we believe that it's in the best interest of the team and the program if we step down as head coaches. We are meeting with Dale next week to discuss the future of the program, and will keep everyone informed on how the hiring process progresses. It has been the greatest pleasure of our lives being with these girls every day for a short 3-4 months every year, and coaching this team has had an immeasurable impact on our lives. We hope that you will remember us with fond memories as you look back on your time at Highlands!
Go Birds :)
