Open Field: Week of 11/1

Thanks to everyone who has been attending conditioning and open field! The rest of the coaching staff and I are very excited about the girls being able to throw in the fall.

Please note that there will be NO OPEN FIELD on Monday 11/1. Instead, we will be on the football field on TUESDAY 11/2 from 6:30 - 7:30pm. After that, we'll resume in the small gym on Thursdays from 7 - 8:30pm and Mondays from 6:30 - 7:30pm on the football field.

**Conditioning REMINDER**

Just a reminder that open field and conditioning will start tonight. We'll be on the football field at the high school from 6:30 - 7:30 tonight, and in the small gym at the high school from 7 - 8:30 on Thursday. Hope to see everyone there!

Sunday August 8th - Game and Booster Drive

Hello everyone,

This Sunday will be the Booster drive. I recognize that many of our players are involved with other sports, but anyone that is not involved with another sport that is planning on playing softball in the spring needs to be at school at 2:40pm on Sunday afternoon in order to help with the Booster drive. It would be great if we could get a parent to help us out with driving. Please let me know if you'd be able to drive.

We'll also be playing NCC at 6:30pm at Bartlett field again. Please let me know if you'll be there - last week we only had 5 girls and had to borrow some from NCC - so it would be nice to fill out a team this week :)

Jake and I will be out of town at a funeral all day on Sunday, so Milt and Katie will be coaching on Sunday night.

GAME SUNDAY

Hello everyone! We've finally got a game scheduled this summer...we will be playing New Cath's team this Sunday at 6:30pm at Bartlett field.

Please let me know by email if you CAN be there. No need to tell me if you CAN'T, as I expect there will be people on vacation or with other commitments. Please let me know by Friday so we can round up some other girls if needed.

Summer Camp

Due to lack of campers, our summer camp has been cancelled. We will work to try to schedule a one day clinic in the fall once school has started. Thanks.

Kids' Camp This Week

Just a reminder to everyone that our kids' camp is this week.

Dates are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 6:30-8:30. Any JV and Varsity players are encouraged to come up to help any days they can!!

We are also hoping to start the summer league next week. I will post details as soon as I have them.

BANQUET

Just a reminder to everyone that the banquet will be Saturday afternoon, June 5th at 3pm. We will be in "Fellowship Hall" on the first floor at First Presbyterian Church on S. Ft. Thomas Ave. You can park in the parking lot.

We will have light snacks, cake and punch.

Don't forget your uniform including helmet and bag!

BANQUET

The awards banquet will be next Saturday, June 5th, at 3pm at First Presbyterian Church. The church is located on S. Fort Thomas Ave.

Weekend Schedule

We want everyone to know the schedule for the entire weekend so that everyone has a heads up. We know that this is a holiday weekend and the last weekend of school, but this is the most important weekend of practice for the entire season, so it's very important that all Varsity players are there.

Today at 3pm there is a team meeting with the team Captains at school. We will begin practice at 3:30pm. We will shoot to be done by 5pm, but it's possible we will run longer than that.

Saturday, practice will be from 9am - 10:30am.

NO PRACTICE SUNDAY. But please check this website as I will post our gametimes after the draw Sunday morning.

Monday, practice will be from 10am-11am.

Any JV players who need their candles still can come to the field between 3:15 and 3:30 today to pick them up.

Regional Tournament Update

I just received an email from Holmes, who is hosting the Regional Tournament this year. The games will be played on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 5pm and 6:30pm at NKU. The final game will be played on Friday at 6pm. This means there will be NO GAMES ON MONDAY.

The draw will take place on Sunday morning, so I will let everyone know ASAP what time our game will be next week.

Now let's beat some Thoroughbred butt tonight!

Varsity districts are tonight at NKU. The game starts at 7:15pm.

We will be leaving school at 5:30pm to head over to NKU.

Week of May 24th - DISTRICTS

Monday - Varsity only practice at 5:30pm.

Tuesday - Varsity district game at 7:15pm at NKU. If we win, we play Thursday at 5pm at NKU. The district bracket is posted on KHSAA.org.

JV girls are welcome to come to the games dressed and sit in the dugout if they like.

We were told at the district meeting that NKU is charging $2 for parking now, so please be prepared for that. The cost to enter the game is $5 adults and $3 students.

We are planning our awards banquet for June 5th in the afternoon. Further details to be announced shortly.

Friday May 21st @ FOPA

Friday's game vs. Holmes will be played at FOPA. Directions are below.

Varsity is leaving school at 4:15. JV needs to be at FOPA at 5:30.

Take a right off the exit.

Thursday will be Senior Night. The game is still at home, but we'll be playing St. Henry now instead of Bellevue. There WILL be a JV game after the Varsity game.

Senior Night festivities will take place directly following the Varsity game.

***UPDATE***

We will be making a decision regarding tonight's game at 1pm today. The rain is supposed to taper off this morning, so keep your fingers crossed!

I know tomorrow's schedule says Varsity only, but we will be playing Varsity at 5:30, with JV immediately following. We were going to try to play under the lights, but Dixie can only play a certain number of games under the lights due to an agreement with the residents. So we'll play until it gets dark. I know it's late notice, so please let me know if your JV players cannot be there tomorrow.

Today's game is at Dayton - I just spoke with their coach and she said their field is good to go.

Varsity will be leaving from school at 4:15pm.

JV needs to be at Dayton's field at 5:30pm.

I was just informed there is a 7th/8th grade dance tonight. The 7th and 8th graders will be permitted to leave the JV game at 8pm if they plan to attend the dance.

If I remember correctly, Newport does NOT have a JV team. So most likely tomorrow will be Varsity only. I am working on trying to pick up a JV game over the weekend since we've had so many cancelled recently. I will let you know about both as soon as possible.

You will take 27 and turn left on Bluegrass Ave.
Then you'll turn left on Kentucky Drive.

You should then see the field next to the pool.

Just heard from Scott's coach, if we play tonight, we will NOT be playing a JV game. Scott has a chorus concert tonight and their middle schoolers are unavailable. I will have an update on the Varsity game by 2pm.

Monday May 10th, Silver Grove @ home

PICTURE DAY! Varsity girls need to be at school at 4pm today to stretch and toss before we get our team pictures. Team pictures will be taken at 4:30pm at the high school, meaning JV girls need to be there at 4:30.

***It has been brought to my attention that the schedule says JV plays first today. The schedule is incorrect. I am checking with their coach to make sure, but we need to plan on Varsity playing first tonight***

May 7th Weekend

NO PRACTICE FRIDAY. EVERYONE NEEDS TO ICE UP!

Varsity girls need to be at school at 9:55am on Saturday morning dressed in blue with pants and blue socks.

We'll be handing out candles before we leave, so if any JV players would like to get theirs before Monday's game, then they can meet us at school at 10am to pick them up before we leave for Williamstown.

ANOTHER Schedule Change

Hey everyone,

I am really sorry about all these changes, it seems every day this week I've gotten a call or email from a coach telling me they need to cancel or reschedule...Frustration!

Williamstown's coach just let me know that we will NOT be playing a JV game following the Varsity game on May 8th. JV players are still welcome to attend the game, but they are not required to attend.

Sorry for the continual changes!

Also - I've scheduled team pictures that morning, but realized that it's the DC trip for several 8th graders. I'm currently attempting to reschedule, but can't promise anything. I will let everyone know for sure ASAP.

JV TOURNAMENT UPDATE

Hey everyone, I just received an email from Boone's coach regarding the tournament tomorrow. They have pushed the times back a little bit in hopes that we can play in the window where the rain is supposed to hold up (I think this may work better for those of you that had morning commitments anyway).

The new schedule is:

Conner v. Boone 12:30pm
Highlands v. Mason 2:00pm
Conner v. Highlands 3:30pm
Boone v. Mason Co. 5pm

He said we will play the ENTIRE game with no time limit so that the girls can get a full 7 innings in, so some of the games might run late.

The girls need to be at school at 12:30pm now rather than 11am.
